So what next? Good question. The one thing I can say for sure is that it won’t be the third Afrika book. I need a break from Nazis. I also don’t want to get ‘typecast’ as a writer of alternative histories. So it will be a completely new project, and preferably something short. After the epic that was Madagaskar Plan (both in its writing and the actual length of the book) I want a smaller, more intimate novel, one that will be quicker to write… which probably means I’ll end up with my biggest project yet.
At the moment (autumn 2016) I’m working on three, separate possibilities; all of them are very different. My plan is to develop each one further, then see which book my publisher thinks has the most commercial appeal. As soon as I know, I’ll add more details here.
